Welcome to Connecting Hands, Inc.!

ABOUT MICHELLE!

My name is Michelle Townsend and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  I am a mother to my amazing daughter Taylor who is a college student.  I had a passion to work with children at an early age.  It was this passion that led me to establish Connecting Hands, Inc. (former MAP Homes, Inc.) in 1999.  I have volunteered and worked in the social services and legal field for over 25 years.

Educational background includes earning a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from California State University Dominguez Hills; Master’s Degree in Teaching, as well as a Master’s Degree in Special Education from National University.

It has been my professional commitment to serve and meet the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities.  I believe in promoting the development of life skills with a goal to engage individuals in meaningful programs/services.  These programs/services include: court supervised visitation, assisting families with their loved ones, managing/administrative settings, behavioral/self-care training, behavior modification plans, Live Scan Fingerprinting, integration into community settings, Notary Public and Paralegal Services. Additional expertise is in the areas of being a Certified Crisis Prevention Trainer (CPI), ADHD, and Autism.

I believe that change happens when people are given the opportunity and support, they need to draw from their own strengths, realize their potential, and overcome obstacles in order to live fulfilling lives.

Connecting Hands, Inc., is a professional organization that offers secure, safe, and third party-neutral visitation/exchanges for families. We are Trustline Certified, and have completed the required education as required by Standards 5.20 and Family Law 3200.5. Let us help you connect with a monitor who meets your family needs and is available to supervise your online and/or in-person visit.  If you have an immediate need for services, please contact me for more information.
